Photo disappears after a few minutes in the light

In the frame of an artistic project, I would like the picture to disappear after a few minutes once out of a pouch tight to the light.

I have done some tests with different processes, without obtaining the exact result souahite, I still have some tests to do but have you idées of processes or alternative or alternative treatment.

The quality of the photo is not very important

If only printing out paper were still commercially available, but you might be able to make some. Do n ot fix and the image will disappear... but not in minutes. That's what snapchat is for.

he could also make a sun print ( regular old photo paper with a negative or anything on it in the sun to make an image )
and after the image is made paint it with extremely dilute fixer. the stain-image will completely disappear in seconds, not minutes
you can do the same thing but with developer too, and it will turn black in seconds.
this is like what Nicéphore Niépce did with his camera ( retina prints ).

Thank you for your return but what I want as far as possible is that when we release the photo of the envelope waterproof to the light we see the picture for a few minutes and it disappears as with a fondue in black or white.

Without having to do chemical treatment, just by the action of light

You want it to disappear to all white or all dark?

Ideally, I think you will need a transparent light-sensitive chemical as a coated layer over the original image. When the image is removed from the pouch and exposed to light, then the layer over the image becomes dark. However, this may happen in seconds (see post #3), not minutes.

I don't know if such a chemical exists.

Something like salt print chemistry will take minutes to fully darken which you can slow down even further by using a UV absorbing/blocking glass/plexi. Darkening is probably doable, lightening seems less so. I am not sure OP has a preference or either will do.

Presentation in extremely bright light will speed things along. Try testing what kind of bulb will fog paper the fastest...

I think it would be quite easy. Develop and do not fix. Wash and dry all in the darkroom. Place in a lightfast package.

Not sure how long it could stay in that state as a good picture to be revealed when you open it.

But in the light, it would soon turn black. Like all the pictures that were created before the discovery of hypo.

The easiest way to do so is to create the image with a contact process without developing. You may look for solarography where this process is used. In bright light the image darkens in a few minutes. It is stable however in the dark.

I tried with photo paper with develop and wash without repairing, but it takes several hours to be dark.

Print/fix/wash as normal. Create a thin glass frame that holds water with image inside . Add reducer/bleach in small quantity - shake - Image will turn to yellow and eventually white of the paper. And for a bit of magic, Add developer and image comes back.

If the paper can be damp, or even wet with developer, Bill's suggested method should turn dark within a minute or two.

A couple of options:

1) You can buy something like SunPrint which is a pre-sensitized cyanotype type paper:

Expose a positive transparency or even an object per instructions to get a latent image, white in the highlights and the original blue color in the shadows. Soon as you get a satisfactory latent image, take it to a safe light area and frame it under glass and package it in a light tight box/bag. At the time of the show, just open the package and let everyone see the image and then as you hold it against the sun, the whole paper should become white.

Or,

2) If you feel like playing with chemistry, get some silver nitrate solution (10-15%) brush it on a water color paper under safe light, dry it in dark. This is the typical salt printing process, but without the salt. Seems silver nitrate will print on just about any paper all by itself. Do the same process as above from expose onwards, but with a negative. Here the latent will be a nice dark brown image. If you are not familiar with silver nitrate, please research the hazards of handling it.
