Peter Feresten at CAC

All in the Metromess (Ft Worth and Dallas),

There will be an opening of Peter's work Friday night at the Comunity Art Center here in Ft Worth. The show will be up for about 1 month. Peter is dying and the powers that be have decided to give him an lifetime achivement award. There is a nice article in the Ft Worth Star Telegram today in the Arts Section. It may be on line but I have not checked yet. Everyone interested in photography and especially documentry photography should attend this event.

Go to google and point to Fort Worth Star Telegram and then search for Peter Feresten's name. They have some of the photo's and all of the story. You may have to register. It is a local newspaper.

Made it over to the CAC this morning, almost missed Peter's show, but was very glad I did. This was a good mix of stuff I had not seen, may have seen a couple of the late 70's ones back in college. For those in the area that did not make it, you missed some excellent work. I think that Andre A would have loved most of it...Peter has documented the areas of town, bars, churchs etc that many people don't know are there. He captures the feeling of the place, not just what it looked like, you can almost hear the singing in the church, or the music in the bar. Each one made me realize why we photograph..so we don't forget and so others can "see" how we lived.
