I am so excited about this -yes I do need to get out more- Just bought a V100 scanner ($69 approx $140). 3200 dpi and it does kodachrome K64 with a little bit of help, most of which can be achieved through the driver software.
The scans are pretty good too.

You seem to have lost a lot of shadow detail (look in the tree; no leaves showing in the shadow). Perhaps you can play with the low end of the curve before you scan?

There are two problems about kodachrome and scanning. Its saturation and its Dmax. Your scan looks fine where neither of those two are peaking, but in the shade and the saturated greens there is no detail.
Don't worry so much. I have a whole stack of KR's that look great projected, and even Kodak wasn't able to give me a decent scan.
