Tired of perfection? Sick of tack sharp pictures from the Plasmat. Wishing for a Portrait lens for your 4X5 system that's got a little personality??

Consider this lovely old lens. It is a late production Rapid Rectilinear. Entry lever (read CHEAP) lens from the 1920's well beyond the time when everybody had moved on to anastigmats. Probably a good 20 years beyond that revolution.

Wolly and Gundlach continued to make these as their price point leaders. This one has 3 possible focal lengths. It's a triple convertible with all 3 focal scales present on the nice old working Ilex. 10.5, 18, and 24 inch.

I can only recall using it one time and never did get around to using the singles by themselves. My loss. Your gain. It's a fun old lens. Fits a normal Ilex 3 flange if you have one. O/wise, they come up on ebay from time to time. a fairly common flange. $165 shipped.

Here's an image made with this in 6X10" format!

What a classy old lens, wish I had a whole plate back for my Wista 10x8. Question please Jim, what is the condition of the glass sir?
Sam H.

P.S. Wanted to add my smiles to you for that fun photograph. Brilliant combo for that lens.

Thanks Sam, and thanks for asking. Glass is excellent plus on this. Just the slightest bit of balsam present at the far edges in the front and none at all at the rear. These are just 4 element 2 group, so 2 cemented groups. Only 4 air to glass surfaces which makes the contrast very snappy.

I should add, shutter speeds are like a blind date. You never know what you're going to get

UPDATE!

Shutter on this is erratic. Was working but now it doesn't. Blades don't cycle all the way until you tap tap tap it a little. Needs a CLA.

Therefore, just make offers on this please.

SOLD!

Thanks All!
