For Sale Pentax S-M-C Takumar 105/2.8

Very good condition S-M-C Takumar (last version before the rubber focusing rings took over) for Pentax screw mount cameras. Supports open aperture metering with the later Spotmatic bodies like the F and I believe the ES/ES II.

Glass is clean, focus ring is smooth as all Taks are, looks like it has never been opened or monkeyed with. Focuses fine on my Spotmatics and gives a nice angle of view for portraits. Lightweight alternative to the 85mm bricks with similarly nice IQ for pleasing portraits wide open. Stopped down a bit it's as sharp/contrasty as the 100/4 Macro I had for a while.

No engravings but one of the POs did cover the "Takumar" in the front element name ring with nail polish or something similar, with nothing else touched. I haven't attempted to clean this off as it doesn't affect function. Obviously this lens has been used so there are spots of paint loss/physical wear on the edges but all functions are as they should be (stops down snappily, A/M switch is fine).


Set includes original Asahi case, original Asahi hood, original front and rear caps and I can throw in the pictured Asahi Pentax skylight filter in 49mm size.

Nice lens. I bought mine (same exact thing with knurled metal) back in the 70's.

In all likelihood, the "Takumar" was covered over to allow it to be brought into US, probably by a serviceman. Honeywell owned the import and trademark rights in the US. Not sure how best to remove it (though it isn't necessary to remove).

Is it a Full Aperture metering version for the F/ESII ?

Ian, yes, it is full aperture metering compatible as in my first paragraph. I forgot to take a photo of the rear of the lens but I will try to get one tonight.

Lucky it's just painted over. I've seen brand names removed with a grinder. (In this case, you could just take a white oil pastel and color the engraving in. Voila! cured!)

When I've seen them painted over, it's more than just filled in. So you'd have to replicate the engraving, not just color it in. But obviously it's just a purely cosmetic issue, so no need to do anything.

I've seen it where the entire "Asahi Pentax" logo on the prism was covered over.

In some cases, the engraving may be completely filled in.

However, the engraving is still present in the lens in the photo below, and it looks like an oil pastel may do the job. If it doesn't, wipe it off. No big deal.

As I suspected, this lens was made after 1971, and is for the ES/SPF series. Very nice lens.

I think it should be part of my Spotmatic F kit so I'd like to buy this please. PM sent.
