Pentax K2 shutter problem- is there hope?

I have a Pentax K2 that might have a shutter problem! From what I see online this is pretty common...

The film advance does not do anything, the wheels do not turn at all. I can press the shutter button down, but nothing happens.

Any thing thing I can try before sending the camera to the display cabinet?

Hi there your camera problem is an easy fix following these steps. Light oil is required to fix the camera. On this camera the depth of field operation lever becomes seized causing all sorts of problems. This works in conjunction with the shutter and mirror mechanism as the shutter is released the seizure of the depth of field or stop down moves to slow causing the shutter not no fire and mirror to stay up.
Use a light oil with needle syringe just a drop through the mirror boxing to depth of field lever as close to the axis as possible. Working the lever for a good while until you feel it free up more easy.
Once this is done push up mirror lock and the shutter will fire. Push down mirror lock up to return mirror. Do this as many times and some until shutter fires correctly and mirror returns itself.
Shutter speeds should return if you have one speed on all settings as the mechanics are worked.
One last thing if you are confident remove base plate light oil moving parts very very lightly removing excess with cotton bud or USA Q Tip.
You now a this stage should have a working K2. STAND CAMERA UPRIGHT FOR 24 HOURS. Check for any oil smears clean if any with isopropyl alcohol.
Have fun take your time be patient bring it back to life.
