I had the FM for a year or so before I noticed the shutter speed and aperture in the finder.

That's probably because you were composing the scene, focusing, and all those other things photographers do. I, however, am captivated by viewfinder displays: I've probably made dozens of photos of blurry blank walls simply because the viewfinder information looked so good at the time.

Near but not in bull.
Mostly I shoot instinctive point if I have time I will use the finder. But only to centre the subject.

Personal preferences and biases. I myself can not adjust to the smaller height of the lx or mx , both of which have better features than my km's. This does not make them worse than a km just not a good fit for me. If you don't like a body just don't use it.

Add a winder. Especially on the MX it makes a big difference.

I'm probably willingly to sell of my K1000, however I don't know how much i'd ask for this:

Pentax K1000 SLR camera with 5 lenses:

*Petri 50 mm 1:1.4 lens
*Pentax 50 mm 1:2 lens
*Pentax 50 mm 1:2.8 macrolens
*Pentax 135 mm 1:3.5 telelens
*Pentax 35mm 1:3.5 wide angle
sunhood for the lenses
vivitar 2000 flash and ever ready case.

What is a reasonable price to sell this for? All in very good condition.

Depends on cosmetic & working condition, your location and actual identification of each item.
What series are each of the lenses - K, M, A or F series?
For instance, is your "Pentax 50 mm 1:2.8 macrolens" actually a SMC Pentax-A 50mm F2.8 Macro?
Is the K1000 an early version or later - made in Japan vs made in China?

Wow, all this variations.. didn't know that.
K1000 series number is 7358902, other than that, how do you know if it's made in japan vs china?
Wide angle: SMC Pentax 1:3.5/35
telelens: smc pentax-m 1:3.5 135mm
standardlens: smc pentax-m 1:2 50mm
macrolens: smc pentax-a 1:2.8 50mm

There are at least three main series, made in Japan, made in Hong Kong and made in Mainland China.

The MIJ were built with the other K series, the top plate is the same as the KX, the serial number is on it instead of the base plate and originally came with the K55 mm f2, they are relatively rare because in 1976-1978 it had to compete with the better spec's KM and KX:

Made in Hong Kong is the most abundant, it originally came with a M 50mm f2 or an A 50mm f2 according to the time it was produced:

A lot of people consider this camera made in Japan but it's not.

The made in China has plastic plates, no "Asahi" engraving and it's 100 gr. lighter than the original camera:

Thanks for the info.
Top and bottom plate are both in metal. Asahi is engraved on it, serial number is on bottom plate. So probably made in Hong Kong?

Probably yes, also because it came with a M 50mm f2 lens, on the Pentax forum there is the serial number database of the K1000s and it's very useful to try to date your camera.

I have two K1000s, one is a MIJ the other is an early SE MIHK with brown leatherette, they are both nice cameras, very well made.
