Hey Folks,

While I've previously had a similar issue with my Pentax 67II which had to be sent off to be fixed, a friend with a 6x7 has encountered an issue that I'm wondering if anyone has come across:

Loading a new roll of film (everything had been fine the day before), using the winder does not advance the film at all. On further inspection, the wings of the metal spool-holders (sorry I'm not sure the correct term) do not spin, however the circle inside the wings IS rotating.

There's a possibility a film was loaded and then pulled out.

Has anyone come across this? I'm wondering if dry-firing will help? Or battery replacement or anything of the sort. Or if you think it's a mchanical fault that will need to be sent away - but of course I'd like to try all options before this as, from experience, this costs about £350.

I can possibly get my hands on it tomorrow to do some troubleshooting so wanted to be prepared.

Thanks!

I'm wondering if the little wing thingies were properly engaged with the slot in the spool. Sometimes, usually in the dark, I take a few tries before it properly seats in the spool.

Thanks Mark, I know what you mean but this wasn't the issue as we were testing it also without spool.

I have actually corrected the issue, I did a few things (reseated battery, rotated the small button on top of the counter, flicked the lock switch) then I was able to dry-fire and the wings engaged as normal and camera is reset.

A bit different to using the 67ii as I'm used to, but glad to have it working - such a good feeling to fix someone's camera when they are bracing themselves for repair fee and a long wait!
