Is the aperture coupling chain a feature of the 6x7, 67 bodies or a feature of the AE prism?

I know that if an AE prism is removed, any lens should be removed before re-attaching the prism. Not sure if that's the case with non-AE prisms.

It’s on the bodies, and is pulled into position by the aperture ring. The chain pulls a lever that moves a lever on the AE prism. The other finders don’t touch that lever.

The prohibition on removing/mounting prisms when a lens is mounted, only applies to the AE prism.
