A simple question to my Pentax 67 II - I am wondering since I got this in nearly new condition : What is your experience in transport your films ?
I have to say everyrhing is working fine.
But I also noticed it is very heavy to use the film advance lever ..
So.... it is not on me I would have enough power in my hands to transport the film.
But is this normal?
Does anyone have a comparison?
Does anyone own both cameras the older Pentax 6x7 from the 60th/70th or Pentax 67 from the 80th AND the Pentax 67II?
I have heard about that the film advance with the old models is a bit heavy.
And I would never expect to have a comparison to a typical 135 camera advance lever - because there must be a difference.
But the new models like mine should have a ball bearing axis to the lever.
I heard aboud - and I wonder aboud since I have it in use.
By the time I noticed no difference from films.I would say 220 films are a little easier. But I have not often 220 films in use.
Naturaly 120 fims not exact wired on the spool need more power as we all knew - that is not the reason to my request. (with bad wired films is is very strong I must say).
And in addition : Has anyone heard about that the transport mechanism of
Pentax67 cameras can break down?
The camera I got is in use since some years but not very often : 90 films in the whole time.
And it is not becomming more bad I would say.
But I am worried aboud it more and more.
So...IS THIS NORMAL ?

I shoot a 67ii and I either have hulk hands or mine is not as difficult to advance as yours. I never even noticed it being any more or less difficult than any other film advance system. I would have yours checked out. Perhaps it just needs lube?

Like Troy, I wouldn't describe it difficult to advance the film on either my Pentax 67 or 67II. Sounds like yours need servicing.

Yes I see there might be a problem ..
Perhaps I should first have a look on
any other Pentax 67.
And I should have it in my own hands
to compare .....
It should be answered within a few seconds if there is a difference in comparison.

Would you like to say the Pentax67 is
with the same easiness in advance as you shot with a 135 FILM camera ?
If it is in that way my Pentax has a problem because there is a big difference ....

Well, given that the Pentax uses a system of rollers which really hold the film tight, it sometimes can be, especially with older film, that I have to use some more force when advancing the film in my Pentax 6x7 MLU. One of the key features of the Pentax 6x7 system is the extreme film flatness over the whole film gate, this can only be achieved by using rollers with springs that hold the roll really tight on both sides, also the film pressure plate is designed to really put pressure on the film.
Adavancing the film is in no way comparable to advancing film in a 35mm SLR, in the Pentax it is easier with 220 film and harder with older films with thicker backing paper like my Orwos.
Since I can under no circumstance judge what "heavy" or "hard" to you is, I can only offer some consolation, it really is harder to advance the film in a Pentax 6x7 or 67 that it is in any camera that I've tried so far.

Yes it is hard to describe what it means... as you said -with 220 films it is often a little bit more easy, not allways. Let me say without any film it is exact as easy as with a 135 camera.
With bad wired film rolls it is very heavy - but that is in case of the film roll of cause ( not correct wired ).With 2/3 of all films it is only with a power that I am afraid of ....
I should actually compare it with an other Pentax 67 - perhaps it is normal.
