Hello All:

Seeking advice on current used pricing for an excellent example of this lens...

Based on what I've seen on eBay, it seems that good examples of this lens can be had for $600 - $700 US (though nearly all are from Japan which probably means import fees, etc). Normally, I either buy most of my used equipment from KEH or use them as a basis for fair pricing; but, they don't currently have one of these lens in stock. I found one dealer that has it with a reported condition of 9+ (shows little to no signs of wear) for $949. Based on what little pricing information I've been able to glean over the past few days, this price seems a tad high? Anyone out there have any opinions or advice?

Thank you all for your help.

Best regards,

$949!? For a tardy f5.6 lens that quoted price is very, very high indeed. 9+ is close to 10, of which 10 is considered one down from mint/new (NIB). I would want to inspect the lens personally and not rely on what a dealer says about condition. The lens could be obtained for around $470 to $600 on eBay in very good to excellent condition. I have not seen a mint specimen of this lens because it is considered quite uncommon given the dim view it imparts on the standard 67 viewfinder. It is usually the 55-100 f4.5 that is a go-to lens for the slightly better working aperture. It is essential if considering spending a large amount of money to handle the lens personally and inspect it ruthlessly (including mounting it to a known fault-free 67 body).

Thank you both for your replies.

On further consideration, I've decided to think more about buying this lens and, if I do, I'll probably get it from a dealer in Japan.
