Pentax 645 and the AF280 Flash

I can't get the flash working when I take a picture anymore. It was working previously, but now I can't get the little flash icon to appear on the little "screen" or in the view finder, and it won't flash when I push the shutter. It does however flash when I press the flash test button. Can anyone help me?

I guess first step would be to verify/clean all the contacts of the flash and hot shoe and ensure it is fully inserted. If you have another flash, you could try it out (it could be any flash with a middle contact to just check if it fires, of course it would not show the flash ready icon work as a TTL flash).

Since the test button works, at least the battery contacts of the flash seem to be fine...

right, plus it did work before too. I appreciate the feedback.
