I have a Pelican 1600 (I think) which came with a Zenza Bronica ETRSi and gear. I believe it's ancient, made before the current folding handle design. I say it's usually housing the Bronica because a recent extended period of wet weather resulted in everything in the case being plastered with mildew. Turns out it doesn't have an o-ring seal and is not even remotely air/watertight.
I've cleaned the inside with vinegar and sunlight, and I'm planning to bin the padded inserts as I don't think it'd be possible to purge mildew from open cell foam (it has padded inserts, possibly not original but I'm not sure, all I know is they're blue). If I can manage to source an o-ring (Pelican themselves don't sell these in Australia for some reason, so I'm searching the net for an alternative supplier), and obtain a replacement set of inserts, is there anything else that I would need to address in order to make it both air/watertight and purged of mould? Is there a way to clean the valve and/or make sure that's in working order?
(Please forgive my clear lack of experience with these cases - this is the first Pelican case I've seen or used, it came with the gear not a separate purchase, and I assumed until quite recently that it was in good working order.)
