I shoot Fomapan 200, sheet film and develop on stainless steel hangars in deep tanks. I do a water presoak for a few minutes before going into the developer. Just as soon as the film hits the presoak water there is a peculiar smell from the film. Anyone else notice it? I guess it is from the anti-haliation coating which is being dissolved in the presoak water. This smell is quite distinctive, and I have not noticed it from any other film I have ever processed.

I always mean to write down the smell that a particular film/developer combo makes...there was one in particular that--no joke--smelled like BBQ sauce!
