Over the past few years, digitizing negatives with DSLR cameras has become increasingly popular. One issue this raises is the choice of light source, and the question of how to optimize color rendition of in particular color negative scans. In this blog, I explore some theoretical perspectives on this issue by looking into spectral characteristics of film emulsions and digital camera sensors.
