Didn't know where best to post this, but the PBS series Civilizations has an episode called "Paradise on Earth". It has a good bit on Adams. Also includes Misrach.
I recommend this to anyone interested in the landscape. Covering painting, printmaking and photography, it charts the evolution of landscape art, and its role in defining our relationship in the natural world.
Yes Im sure it will eventually come here. I like a good documentary, unfortunately the standards of most seem to be slipping, seems to be all about sensationalism, bad dramatized reenactments and constantly rerunning inserts. Hope this one is a bit different.
No reenactments in this. Just a good survey of landscape art, starting with ancient Chinese painting and ending with Hubble photographs. It makes some interesting points along the way about how it can help define a region and a culture, as well as being the best way (pre-photo days) to introduce a specific region to the rest of the world.
