I have a spare Paterson 4 tank that came to me without the seal and the cap. I emailed Paterson asking about those parts but haven't heard back and can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if those parts are available anywhere?

Thanks!!

System 4 or Super System 4 ? Is ee Paterson tanks at the Camera Fair I go to regularly, prices vary a lot but I've paid between £2 and £5 ($2.60/$6.50) for complete tanks recently.

Tanks do break place a wanted advert here, there's a good chance someone has the parts spare.

They don't have anything for the System 4 only for the Super System 4. The grey cap in the lower right and the grey ring around the top of the tank in the attached image are the parts I need. I can't even find them on fleabay, just complete tanks........

Straight System 4. Probably the best way to go is the ad.

Thanks!

Good luck getting a reply from Patterson. I've emailed them several times as I am after a basket for the Major print washer, about a year ago it took 3 emails to get a reply to contact the distributor in Australia who never answer emails. A few more emails and I got an answer to contact a distributor in Italy. Just last week I emailed them again and as usual, no reply. The item is listed on their website but does not allow for ordering if you are not in the UK.

Harman Technology Ltd. are the distributors for Paterson in a few parts of the world - try them.
That being said, the System 4 tanks were replaced by the Super System 4 tanks 30 years ago, so it may very well be the case that no spare parts are being made any more.

Actually the original System 4 tanks were manufacture for many years longer, I have a NIB Jessops Universal Duo Developing tank which is a Systen 4 tank. The only difference is the lid id Blue not Grey and instead of the Red ring that says Paterson there's a Blue ring that says Jessops.

Jessops were the UK's largest photo chain by a long way until they went bust.

OP, I have just checked and have no spares myself, in fact I have one tank missing a lid and seal.

I considered cutting an "O" from an inner tube or going to a supplier of such rings and experimenting with that. Getting it out for rinsing may be a bit awkward.

the system 4 was repleced by the supper system 4 many years ago, and when I enquired at least ten years ago II was told that parts were no longer in stock for the older tanks.

you may find that the AP Classic tanks have many parts interchangeable. ALTHOUGH the cores seem to be of slightly different lengths. the AP tanks are sold as Arista as well as other brands. https://www.freestylephoto.biz/5031-Arista-Classic-Double-Reel-Developing-Tank-with-Two-Reels.

my take is the Patterson reels are SLIGHTLY better than the Arista Classic reels, and the New artista reels are quite nice, but they have a loading ramp built in which is hard to use with 35mm

I also have some interchangeable parts that I have got with random darkroom equipment with the PHOTAX name as well as a similar tank that just says "made in Hong Kong"

the Newer Patterson tanks are in the very back of my emergency use only cupboard as I find the giant lids difficult to put on quickly and hard to be sure they are properly sealed. I would buy new old style tanks if they were still made.

I am starting to work with B&W slides and once I have my method down I'll probably go plastic tank for the process and be looking for larger tanks than I have now. I have my original 1 reel tank and the 2 reel that is missing parts. I could swap the parts between the tanks but usually I'll load film up a day or two before I develop and would rather have 2 complete tanks to work with. that said when the time comes for the larger tank (at least 4 reels of 35mm) I'll most likely look for a used Tank System 4 instead of the newer "Super System 4" due to what I have heard from other and now you about the wonky lids. I'll check out the AP Classic tanks today too.

I do want to thank everyone for the info, and especially gordrob for the parts I needed, I am sure besides helping me out that others will benefit too while searching here for parts info.....!

In a case of YMMV, I greatly prefer the Super System 4 Paterson tanks with the AP/Arista/Samigon Premium reels.
Experience with Tupperware helps a lot when learning to use the Super System 4 lids!

I don't believe that AP made any of the larger size tanks. so you may have to look to e-bay to turn up the bigger models, their is a 3 reel (35) takes 2 120 - a 5 reel 35 Takes 3 120, and the rare 8 reel 35. which is so tippy I seldom use it, so I have never counted the 120 capacity.
