What do you all favour?
Glossy most of the time for prints you hold in your hand or for albums, and matte for reducing reflections of framed prints. Semi-matte and satin is nice for portraits.
I don't remember what it was called, the ugly surface with tiny embossed evenly-spaced round dots. Who used that, and why?

Pebble finish?
On color paper that's "silk" finish. Possibly it's also used for a similar finish on B&W RC paper.
The embossed dots are of course much smaller in real life:

That's probably it. They should have called it "table tennis racket" instead of "silk".
