Do you know who carries paper safe boxes somewhere in the E.U.?
I am looking for a plastic box that opens from the top like the Doran ones, not of a large size, I would be fine with 8"x10" (20x25cm) or even 5"x7" (13x18cm) and I decided its not worth it making one myself.

Ok, I am replying to my own thread.
I would like to mention that I found them at Fotoimpex but they only list the larger sizes which apart from prohibitively expensive are too large for my needs. All the other ones I've been able to track down are in the US and the shipping rules them out outright.

I found some here:

But I guess Fotoimpex where you looked first could get you the smaller ones too.

Though with those prices I expect you could find a DIY solution.

Thanks, but they are indeed very expensive.
What I am looking for can be found in Freestyle, but I won't even bother asking what the shipping is.
They are perfect: Large enough and very cheap:

I looked at Ebay and unfortunately only Americans list some boxes and the shipping is more expensive than the item itself!

I looked into DIY but I have a bit of a hard time if you can imagine that, finding a box at the proper shape and size. Then they are either paper or wooden and I much rather have it in plastic. Then I would need to make it scratch free, light tight and secure. Even though I love finding and making my own darkroom solutions, this is too much trouble for what's worth.

Thank you Paul.
I sent a message to them as well to Fotoimpex and I am waiting for a reply.
Its Friday evening though so I may get one next week.

You could also try mrcad.co.uk - Ask for the "Jessops paper safe". The Jessops brand are cheap'n'chearful as well as being fairly light (and always haggle over the price )

Ok, I emailed them as well.
I guess most people don't burn quickly enough quantities of paper to ever need such a thing.

Jessops safes come up in the U.K. e-bay quite frequently and are sold quite cheaply. I think they are exactly what you are looking for. Again as others have said there is the issue of postage cost. They weigh almost nothing but even a 8x10(inches) box is quite large as a parcel.

Thank you Paul, I'll try to win one of them.

Did you finally find a paper safe you were happy with? I'm just starting to look, and am in France, so I would be interested to hear what results you had, where you purchased it,etc.

keep looking at ebay germany. i bought a few used kindermann safe boxes there.they open at the front, like drawers, and deliver one sheet at a time. very useful.
