I am new to film photography. My first introduction to darkroom was in the last college semester. From then, I have come to know that film shows reciprocity on very long exposures. Does papers also have the same property? I have come to know about charts and iPhone applications which calculate the reciprocity for a particular film at a defined exposure. However, I have never come across something like that for paper (I might not have looked hard enough though). So, does paper (say Ilford FB) show reciprocity and how is it accounted for in the darkroom?

Thanks

Reciprocity

RH Designs Zone Master II(enlarging meter) takes paper reciprocity failure into account.

Yes with longer exposures paper will exhibit reciprocity failure. There is not much information out there on this and depending on the emulsion type it probably varies quite a bit. Luckily with many papers (and quite a few current films) apparently contrast does not change much so it is just a matter of giving more exposure if your exposure times are very long. This shouldn't be too much of a problem though unless you are using enlarging meters and/or methods like f-stop timing etc.

maybe this sheds a little light.
