WOW that is a great idea... (shudda had a V8! slap myself in the head)

I have a plate camera, sitting here for years, I've been meaning to convert. But what the heck, shoot paper negs instead! DUH!

I'm on it!

Next weekend I'm going to load up my old Century 5x7 with some Ilford MGWT sheets. Fiber paper. Should be fun!

I only have a 4x5 but i would love to start shooting 8x10 positive paper and developing on side. It would be soooo much fun.

Moderators,

Any chance of moving this thread (or a copy of it) to the newly formed "Paper Negative" forum next door in the Darkroom section?

Simons' post is way to useful for those folks just getting interested in this process.

Could someone give a little bit more info on how to contact print a paper negative? Do you just take a paper negative print, lay it over some unexposed paper and light it up?

pretty much, that's it ...
emulsion to emulsion
heavy glass on top (or in contact frame)
expose to light process like you would any other print.
you could also make cyanotypes, and use the sun instead of an enlarger.
the only processing is wash/rise with water
and if you want to remove the blue, bleaching back with sodium carbonate ( washing soda )
and toning in tea or coffee or ???

oh i forgot the most important part ... have fun !
