What kind of tape is the best for masking paper, particularly Hahnemuhle Platinum Rag.

I purchased yellow, pink and blue painters tape, but they all tear down the paper.

Any suggestions before I go and purchase the fourth wrong tape?

Drafting tape...

In days of yore, when we had actual drawing boards and pens, this is what was used to hold drafting paper to the board... i.e. it is actually designed for this job.

However, it is not a masking tape so one can expect occasional leakage of liquids under the edge of the tape especially if you are not very careful to press it down tightly along the entire edge.

Search Amazon for "Alvin Drafting Tape" or "ProTapes Pro Drafting Tape"

(For some reason, I can't seem to provide links to Amazon in my reply.)

Yes, try drafting tape which is made to peel off easily.

Drafting tape may not be the same as "Artist's Tape." Drafting tape is used to hold down velum and Mylar drafting film - both of these are hard surfaced drawing material. Drafting tape is formulated so that it won't leave any residue.
