Paper is stuck on film roll: whats the best way to get rid of it?

I developed a roll of film and already cut it in 6 exposures and wanted to put it in the protective fillm paper slide but unfortunately the paper got wet and now some of the paper is stuck to the film.

How can i get rid of it the best way? Thanks

Soak in distilled water. Hopefully you'll be able to remove most/all of the paper. Is it the emulsion or base side that is stuck...or both? Some fibres will most likely be embedded in the emulsion.

its the back side thats stuck..whatever its name is, haha. what do i use to take it off? i can imagine that any kind of rubbing may damage the film.

Just a gentle soak, maybe a bit of wetting agent, if that doesn't work you could try using developer since it's alkaline. The back side is called the base, the emulsion side is called the (wait for it) emulsion side.

Don't panic!

Earlier this year I went to scan some negatives from 2003. I discovered that two sections (6 frames each) had been put in the protective paper slightly wet! They had actually adhered to the paper for 13 years. What I did was soak the whole lot - negatives and paper sheath - in warm water with wetting agent for about 10 minutes and all was fine. The negatives are perfect.
