Hello,

I have 30x40cm Meopta 2 blades paper easel. It is what one would expect of it, that is it works, but without finesse. Blades wobble, and things like that. So, I found relativelly (for me) affordable 4 blades LPL paper easel (yellow coloured base for paper), it can be seen on fotoimpex's catalogue. That is, it is cheapest 4 bladed easel I know of (about 200 EUROS). There is also 3 blades ADOX paper easel, cheaper (about 150 EUROS). My question is, are they any good, are they worth of money, and/or which one is?

And same question for FB paper drying book, that also can be seen in fotoimpex's catalogue.

Thank you.

I think that's the LPL I have. Yikes 200 Euros?

It works. It's not like a Beard or any of the really expensive easels. When I was looking it was the cheapest half decent new easel. If you've gotten tired of dealing with abused used easels I'm not sure if any other choice is really out there.

OTOH I'm sure better used easels are out there it's a problem of finding one in good condition.

Thanks Nick,

That would be ONLY option for new 4 bladed easel (untill I won lottery ). International secondhand market for me is not real option, and on domestic secondhand (or new) markes, well those markest don't exsists anymore

Yes, 200 EUROS look expencive, but next cheapest (4 blades) I know is about 350 EUROS (Kaiser), so...

The 4-blade LPL easel, which you mentioned above is just as good as the old and popular Saunders one.

Haris, cant say how you should spend your money but thought to pass on a tip I have found useful when using cheaper easels. I use a couple of pieces of magnetic strip, the type you find in fridge door seals, to hold the two blades in place once adjusted, just place them across the joint of the free ends of the blades then when raised they stay together and not flap in the breese. Hope this helpful and possibly save you some money, unless of course you want a 4 blade easel, know I do.

Regards Paul.

Kaiser or Dunco 4-blade easels are very nice but expensive.
If you're running a few formats only I can highly recommend the Versamask system. It's a fixed sized laser-cutted frame system.

There are two base board 30x40cm and 40x50cm all filled with holes and pins to fit on the frame.
Heiland (Wetzlar) is making the special (clients request) frames. Phototec is taking care of the standard work.
It's an idea of Mr. Zöpfl, unfortunately he died a few years ago so the system is now made under licence.
