I'm looking at getting some larger size paper to cut down for a pt/pd project I have in mind. While I would love to use the COT 320, $160 for 25 sheets of 20x24 is a bit out of my price range at this time.

Does anyone have a preference, and can you tell me why, between Platinotype and Socorro in the 23x29 size?

Is Socorro still available? I heard it wasn't going to be made any more. That being said, it's a much better paper than p-type, in my opinion.

I tried twice to order from B&S. But they said it it no longer available. If someone knows where else is Socorro being sold, please post. Thanks.

You're not going to find Socorro anywhere else. That was B&S's name for what was essentially Van Gelder Simili Japon. I understand that this paper is either no longer made or no longer available in the US.

Another economical choice is Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb Hot Press. Try Jerry's for pricing. This paper needs to be pre-treated with a soak in 2% oxalic acid for 5 to 10 minutes.

Thanks for the info, Kerik. Does Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb Hot Press have nice brown tone? Do you recommend double coating?
