Hey all

The show I recently opened in my city has moved on down the highway to the gallery space in Photo Central, a Winnipeg business solidly supporting analog.

This Saturday (April 4th) at 1pm will see the opening of "Latent Images: Panoramic Photographs of China", a collection of hand-printed, B&W images from my 3 trips (so far) to that country. There are 25 photographs in all, ranging from the streets of Shanghai to the mountains at the edge of Tibet.

Photo Central is at 499 Notre Dame Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Hope to see some fellow APUG'ers in person!

Indeed, Photo Central is thrilled to be able to host Colin's show. If you need any further information about us or the show (directions and such), please feel free to visit photocentral.ca for contact info etc.

A big thank you to Colin for all of his support over the years - hopefully our gallery is worthy of his show!

See you there!

Colin - how long is the show for? I missed it in Brandon as I wasn't able to pass that way on my way back west (I took a more northern route) but depending on how long it will be in Winnipeg I may get a chance to stop by when I visit my family a little later this summer.

Great! I believe I'm free on Saturday, I'll make a point of stopping in at or around 1 p.m. Are you doing a presentation at 1, or is it just a meet and greet?

Not sure about the agenda that day, but it does 'officially' start at 1pm.

As to the duration, I believe about late June...don't have the exact dates in my leaky brain at the moment.

Colin - I was in Winnipeg the other day and got a chance to see your show (and meet Andrew). I really enjoyed it. I thought you were able to show a China that was unmistakable, but not of the obvious images one would expect. I'm struggling with my own travel imagery, and to make the most out of my panoramic camera (a Horizon 202). Your images really showed me what a good eye and good technique can do with such a camera. Will definitely need to work on it a little more before I head back to Japan this summer.

BTW - will probably pass through Brandon later this week -- hope to see the show there too. It's great seeing the work of other Apuggers in all it's fiber glory!

Hey Rachelle
Great to hear - please do contact thebanana and I if/when you come through our fair burg.

I'll PM you with contact info.

As to the images, thank you very much. I think these swing-lens cameras are fantastic for candid street photography - oft-times people don't know you're making an image. Most of my shots were done 'off the hip' as I got very accustomed to using the arrows and bubble level to determine my approximate view. In fact, I can't recall a single shot I made using the viewfinder...it doesn't strike me as a camera meant to be used that way.
Not that I intend to be deceitful by being unobtrusive - I just find that people often change what they're doing or being when they realize an image is being made. I was interested in portraying what was before me honestly.
