I work in complete darkness giving semi stand development thats I do as follows:
1 reel on a lifting rod.
developer 4 ml of Pyrocat A + 4 grams of washung soda at 70º F.
5 minute presoak in tap water then transfer to second tank which has the developer
1 minute of constant agitation by gently lifting and releasing the lifting rod.
allow the film to remain in the developer at rest for 21 minutes
pull the rod and reel out and turn the reel top side down.
Agitate for 1 minute as was done above
allow film to rest for another 21 minutes
Transfer film to tap water bath for stopping and agitate for 30 seconds
transfer to fixer
This will be about correct development for subjects that have a lighting diffrence between lit and unlit areas of about 2.5-3 stops when using at a #3 filter for printing on a typical variable contrast paper using a condenser enlarger.
The stain is not particulary obvious visually.
PanF+ stains very well in Pyrocat-HD. The stain may not be very obvious visually, but it will be obvious when printing the negs and in Blue Channel or UV Channel densitometry.
EI 25, 1:1:100 for 8-9 minutes should be a good start. I had found a large forgotten stash of 120 PanF+ in my freezer and had just started testing it a few months back and then got diverted (again). My first test rolls at this combination gave good tones and printed well. I use one minute of gentle inversions followed by 2 gentle inversions per minute.
Im using 9min, 1:1:100, 68F with EI=25 with Pyrocat HD/PanF+. I did some testing this past weekend using minimal agitation methods (60sec initial agitation, then gently invert 30sec every 10 minutes). I have not printed these negatives yet but they look good under a loupe. Im getting 20min, 1:1:150, 68F, EI=32. Those numbers may need tweaked a little, but should be a good starting point. I used the Pyrocat-M variant for the minimal agitation tests.
