I have been given a unopened copy of Paintshop Pro Version 5. Although I have asked on another forum, the answers have been inconclusive so decided to seek advice here.

1. I have Photoshop CS4 installed already on my main computer and will do all I will ever need, but the copy of PSP was too good to turn down. (even though it isn't the latest version) Will there be any compatability problems running alongside the CS4?

2. I understand it will have a RAW convertor for Nikon, can the resulting JPG/Tiff files also be opened later in the CS4 system.

3. Has anyone any experience of using PSP, what did you think of it and as far as you are aware. Are there any little tricks that CS4 doesn't have that I may find useful

Do a little research, but I think Paintshop Pro Version 5 was released in 1998, even before PSP became a Corel product. That is ancient history.

If you are used to using CS4 I think PSP5 will disappoint on nearly every level. Both programs can run together but if you install PSP5 be careful that it does not make itself the default for opening file types that Photoshop or some other software currently handles - most imaging programs attempt or suggest doing this - decline the offer.

Like others who have replied I wouldn't bother. If you want something to put on a spare computer why not download CS2 free from Adobe? IMO it will still be better than PSP5. OzJohn
