Hi all, I recently relocated to Paducah from Tacoma Washington. Any other Apuggers here? or maybe Photrio-ers here?

Enjoy your new place. Is there room for a darkroom?

I haven’t been in that area for many decades, and only saw Paducah from the air as we often flew from Ft Campbell to the PAH diner for lunch. It’s a very picturesque part of the country. I especially liked Land Between The Lakes for photography … not too far from Paducah.

We travel thru Paducah whenever we go to St. Louis. Gas is much cheaper in KY than Ill. Photography wise there are places and sites around that are well worth your time. Photography can be a challenge since being a river town everything is FLAT. Having said that, there are sites in ILL that have bluffs and hills. Small river towns can be interesting.

Bowling Green here. You've got the eastern version of Garden of the Gods available in southern IL, the Ohio River right near town, and then driving east, you've got the karst areas and then into the Appalachian foothills. Headed south, down through Hoptown and Russelville, there's the shaker town and farm fields, then Kentucky and Barkley lakes. Kentucky has more miles of navigable waterways than any other state in the US, so plenty of creeks, rivers, and lakes to check out.

Of course, you can head further east down to Cumberland Gap and Deal's Gap, or up the Lexington for the horse farms. There are plenty of rackhouses and distilleries in central and eastern KY, too.
