Osaka 8X10, anyone know about it?

I'm interested in the Osaka 8X10 sold by Bruce's in NYC. The price is right, and the description on Bruce's web site makes it sound like something I could use. I'd like to know if anyone has any personal experience with one. Also, I'd like to know what it looks like. I can't find a decent picture of it anywhere.
I'm looking to replace my NFS Deardorff, which is still functioning but getting older (as am I). Thanks for anyone's help. Dean

This camera is very much like, if not identical to, the Wista 8x10 (which I own) and in the same category as the Tachihara and Nagaoka. It is a basic camera with all movements but front shift. It is relatively cheap for an 8x10 so I'd consider it entry-level.

Shortfalls include a flimsy/weak back pivot point; sagging bellows with long lenses; knobs that tend to seize up (very annoying); and bellows that are too short for a 600mm lens (unless you get the triple extension). For the price, it is hard to beat but you get what you pay for.

Also note that you will find a huge difference between the Dorf and the Osaka and I'm not convinced you'll be pleased. I also have a 7x17 Wisner and the quality of it is far greater than the Wista. You might want to consider an 8x10 Wisner but it is both heavier and more expensive.

Do yourself a favor,though, and investigate other 8x10s prior to buying as there are much better choices out there than the Osaka IMO.

For the money, take your time and watch for a Zone VI Ultralight on feePay. I got mine in MINT - as in still in the original factory box, with manual, etc - for about what the Osaka goes for. It is in every way a superior tool - triple extension, can handle as wide a lens as a 90mm on the standard bellows, and weighs a bit under 10 lbs. And I think it's even prettier, with the black anodized hardware.

Thanks for the advise. I only have so much money, so it's one shot at getting a decent camera.
I wouldn't replace my Deardorff, but the bellows, while light tight, are showing a lot of wear. And the rear swings, when needed, are a pain in the neck.
My 4X5 Wista DX is nice, but I can't imagine it at 4X size. Dean
