I was expecting that in this link I would see the successful experiences of positive slides and the magnificence of the beautiful images, but I was surprised that the link is a frustrating discussion of black and gray spots problems, and at the end of the discussion it did not reach radical solutions to these problems and no knowledge Its causes ,,

I use UN 54 & N74 but found that using Pyrocat HD on the UN 54 caused a problem with pin holes no matter what dilution I used. Using ID-11 or HC110 seemed to solve that problem and I had even made new Pyrocat HD with fresh chemicals but still the pinholes were still in the negatives.

Old, less well hardened emulsions are potentially vulnerable to pinholes from developers that use carbonate as their alkali when they hit an acid stop.

I did the mistake to develop Efke R50 in a developer with carbonate and then an acid stop. Carbon dioxide formed in the emulsion, causing the negatives to be grey and full of tiny bubbles. Totally unusable. I should have used plain water as stop and a neutral or alkali fixer.

That's true. However, in the specific case of Orwo UN54 I did experiment a bit with developers that had carbonate in them, IIRC Crawley's FX1 and didn't get the spots. It seemed that catechol with carbonate was necessary for the spots to appear. I discussed the issue with PE and he said it could be an emulsion issue but can't confirm it without further tests. Fortunately for me, the film worked fine with Adox MQ Borax and reversed ok with Kalogen.

I was just using water stop and then used TF-5 fixer and I tried different things such as Kodak stop but the pinholes continued so I stopped using that combination. Years ago I remember using Pyrocat HD 1-1-200 on the film with never any problems and really liked the way the negatives that it did turn out as it was great for wet prints. Thinking of getting fresh UN54 from Germany but shipping seems to be a real problem lately.

I am using UN54 with PMK at 64 ASA since 10 years . It works very well.
N74 fits perfect to the ADOX ATOMAL 49 developer.

UN54 is developed in normal strength (1+1+100) PMK for 10 minutes at 21°C.

Have you also used the recently introduced N75 film? Is it any different from N74+?

Sorry I've never used N75. Still have some 100ft rolls of N74 in my freezer.
