Hello, where could I buy a NOS strap for the F3, or what new nikon strap most closely resembles the original one? I would like a matching nikon strap, seems illogical but hey.

Sorry there was no NOS strap for the Nikon F3. When I bought my Nikon F2AS in 1977 it did come with a skinny about 1/2" wide leather strap. When I bought my F3HP in 1982 it didn't come with any strap. I bought the yellow, vinyl, 1" wide Nikon AN-14 to use with it.

There is a strap for the F3, but Chan may be partially correct. When I bought my F3 in 1983, I also bought the camera case, which came only in a red brown colour. I am now questioning whether the strap came with the camera or the case.

For 26 years, my black F3 hung around me neck on a red brown strap, and when I had to retire the camera, the strap was transferred to a F100. I am afraid i can't offer any idea of where to purchase a new F3 strap.

Hello, I think that the answer is at least partially market-dependent.

Nikon for example created indentations in their styrofoam inserts for things like batteries and straps but it was up to the individual distributor to actually include/not take out, or pack those accessories.

In the U.S. EPOI/Nikon USA did not include these accessories, presumably at the behest of their dealers so that they could sell them to customers, from at least ~1980-on when I bought my first Nikon [an FE] at 12 - many an allowance saved, many a lawn mowed.

Also, IIRC the straps that were/would have been included were narrow black leather or nylon straps with a ~6" long rubber neck cushion. Of course the many special edition models Nikon came out with did/might have come with more elaborate straps such as the AN-6W.

And while that first FE is long gone I have since replaced it with another.

Here is an image of my F3, alas - no original strap.

AN-6W is pretty nice, I have one on my F3. It wasn't very expensive either, 13-15€ new from eBay if I recall right.

Not for a F3 but there is a new old stock strap for a F4 on e bay right now. might be close to what you want.

The "stock" F3 strap came with the CF-20 eveready case. I have one. Because I like using the camera with the MD-4 motor drive, the strap is not nearly robust enough, so I use a wide Promaster padded strap instead.

When I got my F3 from KEH, I also ordered a like-new green Nikon strap - like an AN-6, with stitching and a leather pad, but I'm not sure what the part number was. It was very comfortable and the dark green perfectly suited the photojournalist look of the F3.

My shoulder and necks have grooves from the original Nikon strap that I used with the F3/MD4 from 1981 or 1982 until just a few years ago. It was narrow, nylon, and burgundy ("wine" colored). The strap was narrow but substantial. It started fraying near the strap rings but was still servicable when I replaced it. There was no pad on mine. It is possible that the strap was packaged with the ever-ready case that I never used and not with the body -- I don't remember.
