I am wondering have anyone managed to order parts (Yashica TLR) from Mark Hama? I am wondering if he would sell a front element to me. I know about issues with "mis-matched" lens elements. Nothing is really wrong with mine BUT I am kind of anal about lens coating scratches.

He sold me a small piece of plastic that goes under my film crank. It was $20 which is kind of high, except its not, considering the other options I had....none.

Just email him and let us know.

I understand... I can calibrate it though to match it with my taking lens. Just put a piece of ground glass at the back of the film plate and covering the entire square. I then use a DSLR loupe (my D7000 Liveview zooming in to determine the sharpness and clarity). Then, I adjust the viewing lens stack height by rotating it left or right. Through this, I managed to calibrate my Mamiya c330 focusing screen system to properly work and to focus on my Yashica Mat. The image from the ground glass (from the taking lens) matches the image on the focusing screen, in terms of sharpness and clarity. Obviously, a different front lens element may produce uneven focus over the entire image.

scratches in the lens coating are not worth worrying about -- the coating is there to improve light transmission, a slight scratch in it will not hold back enough light to worry about. A good lens shade keeps stray light from making it flare, and you should be using one of those anyway.

Few months back, I've emailed Mr. Hama. I've never received a reply. I tried calling him. The number was no longer valid.

I wish you better luck than I.

Maybe he was on holiday, or email changed?
I had emailed him about 2 years ago when I was considering a MF camera, and he responded promptly to my queries and replies. At 400$ the yashica D back then was too expensive for me, even CLAd. (of course, now prices have gone up)
Good luck!
