Orange at the edges - Portra 400

Newbie question number 101, why do I sometimes get a negative that has a gradual orange tint at the very edge, bleeding into the shot? Sometimes it's quite pronounced but it's not that often that it happens. When it does you can bet it's on a shot I want to keep!

Usually it is a light leak. Is this with 120 film?

Yes 120 in an RZ67pro2. Thought I'd eradicated the leakage issues with some new 'mint' backs. It's certainly an infrequent issue, so an odd one. Maybe it's process driven?

If it is at the edge, than allowing the film to come out into the light in a "too loosely rolled" status is a common problem.
If you see the problem more frequently at the end of the roll, that is a clue.

Look in the film back and see if theres a finger or something that pushes against the roll. This is there to keep the film wound tight aas you shoot, and if it has been sprung out an it may lack the pressure to do its job.

Scanning the image myself yes, but I can see the 'bleed' on the neg.

I'll check the back but I can't remember the rz pro2 back having a finger or clamp for the roll.

Might be lacklustre tightening of the roll once removed. I can't tell if it the end of the roll now but stands to reason. Wouldn't it only be on one side though?
