Options to fix cable release screw on Compur shutter

Hello all,
This is not a LF camera as such (Gaoersi 612) but it's a large format lens/shutter, so I thought this was the best forum. It's my first dabble with LF-alike cameras, so forgive me if I get some terms wrong.

I've just bought the Gaoersi 612, with a 65mm Super Angulon attached, in a Compur shutter. There is a screw hole where the cable release attached to the shutter, which is quite wobbly, and I fear it will fall off soon.

I've got an estimate from a repair shop of £189 + VAT, which seems extraordinary for a bit of wobbly metal, so I've got a few questions:

a) Anyone know of a good place I can get this looked at, and be a bit more reasonably priced?

b) Is this something I could consider fixing myself with JB Weld or something, or should I leave well alone?

You start with unscrewing the front lens cell from the shutter.


Step far away from that tube of JB Weld.

Thanks Bob, I think in that case, I may find a different repairer, it's my first ever LF lens, so I don't feel that comfortable fiddling with it myself.

The receiver for the CR is held in by one screw.
REmove the front element, and the cover of the shutter. Newer shutters like this the cover is held on by a ring around the lens threads.
Tighten screw, replace the stuff.
In the US Flutot's or Paul Ebel are both reasonable but wait times (at least for Flutot's) can be longish.
It would also be less expensive to ship just the shutter, not the body.

I'm in the UK, and fortunately have a few places I can try for a repair. I don't fancy taking it on myself, so I'll check some places on monday.
