Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone around these parts who might have owned both sonnar models of the Rollei35 could comment on whether the optics are improved at all between the two generations. Specifically in terms of sharpness. I'm asking since I love the form factor of the camera, but a number of my frames from my 35SE seem oddly soft, even at small apetures F8/F11. Was curious if this is something easily mitigated by moving to the classic series, or alternatively picking up a Minox 35 series.
Thanks!

Just guessing, but would expect no significant optical differences. Have owned 2 35SEs which delivered good, crisp images. But an incorrectly assembled focus helicoid could certainly have the effect that you describe. Servicing helicoids can be a little bit tricky, because only one way of reassembling may be correct.
