Hey guys. Is anyone using Revuenon 28mm f2.8 MC lens? I want to buy it for my SC2, so I need advice about it. I can get it for aprox. 30 euros. Like a brand new, with caps, lens hood and bag. It looks like this, it's 52mm filter thread. Tnx.

Usually these cheaper 28mm wide angle lenses have poor correction and suffer barrel distortion. I have a similar 28mm f2.8 Chinon lens and its not worth using, your camera is a Chinon their standard lenses are superb but not the rest of their lenses.

I'd suggest a Tamron 28mm f2.5 Adaptall 2 lens, they are excellent, and you can get a Nikon & Olympus adapters as well as the M42. I have one I can use on my Pentax Spotmatics and SV as well as my K mount Chinon & Pentax cameras.

Furthermore with these rebranded lenses there typically show up different models (likely even by different manufacturers) under same or at least similar name.
Thus a good idea of you to present us a photo.

However on quite some photos by such lenses presented on the net I do not see the criticized quirks, or even find them useful.

Or with other words, if you want to photograph a flat plane with a lot of detail in high contrast wide open, one should be careful.
For all other uses one rather should consider whether the resp. price is worth a gamble.

Some of these 28mm lenses got a lesser minimum focusing distance than typical, which again may be useful.

If your expectations aren't too high and you usually are viewing small prints, these generic lenses will do a reasonable job at the smaller apertures. If you're expecting to make 11x14 with these lenses, take Ian's advice and look for a Tamron. That's what I have found with a similar lens in M42 28mm.

Just looked at my Chinon 28mm, I think it's the same lens. I put the lens on an SP500 and the edge curvature is quite severe.

You can get a Tamron 28mm f2.5 lens with a mount for €30, I've just checked ebay. My first was stolen in the early 1980's it was as good as the 28mm f2.8 SMC Takumar I replaced it with, which is why I bought another to use with my screw mount Pentax cameras.
