Dear All,

From september 2006,
in Willebroek, Belgium
we will open a centre for "Black and White Traditional Photography", located in a premise, see pictures.

The official name of the center will follow later on.

It will be a meeting center for the traditional black and white worker.
2 darkrooms, bib, workshop room, show room, dry mounting room.

The center will organise on regular bases workshops and training around the black and white traditional photography and alternative photography.

Ceromonial opening in the month october/november 2006.

Kind regards
Fred

Every now and then I pay a visit to my friends in Brussels. I'll take a small trip to see you Flemish people out there... Congratulations and hope it'll grow to be a big European Traditional Photography Center...

Perhaps a future APUG conference site?? Best wishes with it!

Thanks Bill, Marc, Clogz, Bob, Sean, Dave, Ralph, Curt, Fintan and Suzanne.

The project will start in september.

It was for already some years a dream.
But dreams has to be realised.
To avoid having regrets afterwards.

The house will only be used for (traditional) photography purposes.
Not for living, completely dedicated for b&w printing and alternative techniques.

Planning is to grow in activities (show, workshop, training, printing, meeting) in the first 3 years and, when I'm sixty, then to go for it full-time.
We'll create "an assocation without profit" (???) a sort of mini-academy or mini-gallery, in fact more a "workhouse" for black and white traditional photography.

The center will be available, will be placed at member's disposal, from october/november of this year.

Off course, we will try  to go step by step.
The center will have professional equipment from the start.
With two darkrooms (4,5 by 4,26 meter and one 4,5 by 1.8m)
to create black and white silver prints for the whole workflow just at the stage of presenting the the prints.

Further information you will find on a website that will be ready in August of this year.

Kind regards

Fred
from "the black and white factory"...

Good guess... George!
The "ultimate" (?) highest dream!?
But let's stay very humble...

If "live" will allow us
if funds can be found!

The knowledge (with an history of sales and marketing) to unite all traditional b & w forces we have...

Kind regards

I thought this too but, after seeing what went down before over this conversation, thought it best to stay silent. I've been in enough trouble here lately.

Don't put words in my mouth that I didn' t say David...
Step by step I'd prefer.

On the contrary,
the equipement for the printers, users of the futur centre will be very professional...

untill now...

2 M805 diffusion and condensor enlarger
1 laborator 1000
1 UT 100
analyser pro
hyland splitgrade
seal bienfang dry mount press
rotatrim 30
Hyland densitometer
pre-flashing unit

adsl connection
epson 4990 scanner
possibility to dry mount on aluminium
printing large formats (1m by 1,5m)

and so on and so on
so, it will be a "work house" (factory) for the gelatine silver print

with for the teacher/printer even a bedroom and bathroom

regards
Fred

A conference in 2010...

Damn, I'll have to work on my Dutch (sorry, Vlams...). I wonder, why are all the pictures taken with this depressive gray Belgian sky ? Coudln't the photographers who did them wait for a couple (or at most, four) months ? They would surely find a good bright day to shoot them if they did ... (no offense, I love Belgium

Kind regards!

Yes, 2008 sounds very good, fellow Europeans, let`s start talking about this, if we present the project to the "suits" in Brussels, we might get some funds!

PS- Congratulations Fred .

Cheers
