Hi,

On September 10th, Project Basho is hosting a grand opening in Philadelphia to commemorate the renovation of the new studio. The opening studio hour is from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Project Basho has been working on this 4000 sq ft building for last two years in order to better serve the photographic enthusiasts in the area. The new studio is approximately 800 sq. ft. and accommodates two darkrooms with one work space with a 13ft ceiling. Each darkroom is equipped with 5 enlargers, and a film dryer, archival washer, and a drymount press are conveniently located in the workspace.

Project Basho offers a variety of photography experiences from darkroom rental and informal critiques to introductory classes and advanced workshops like wet-plate and platinum/palladium printing. Project Basho is a unique learning experience for a wide range of audiences from teenagers to advanced amateurs and beyond.

We hope you'll come to our opening on September 10th, see our new studio, and find out more about the classes and workshops we will be offering. For directions and more information, please visit our website or contact Project Basho directly.

Tsuyoshi,

Good luck with your Grand Opening.

I'm guessing that the name Basho is a reference or homage to the great famous haiku poet Matsuo Basho.

I'm sure this isn't a new idea but I wonder if a photograph can have or be an equivalent expression to a poem such as a haiku.

Have a great opening.
