Open Source 3D Printed camera

This is intriguing. I work at a place where I have access to a 3D printer. I might just pull in a favor and print this camera out.

This looks amazing, but I can't tell what format it uses. Is it 35mm? 120? I saw one photo that had a ground glass back, but she also sells a compact field camera so it might have been a photo of that (very very similar). I've sent an email to her asking her a bit more about her camera. I wonder if the plans include a pdf with recommended lenses, etc...

I've been googling it all lunch hour. Hard to tell specifics but I think it's a fixed focus 120 film camera which you can also build a bellows for and turn it into a mini field camera which you can focus if you add a ground glass focusing screen. I also saw someone say 7x9 but I think that might be in cm, not inches. I emailed her for more info, but I'm not expecting a result today.

Very cool concepts. I see a future of highly personalized products enabled by technologies such as additive manufacturing (3D printing). E.g., I want the Fuji-X sensor, but I want also want to have it modular so I can use 35mm film. I want a bright green rubberized water sealed case (I really don't but need an example) with a grip custom fitted to my right hand. I want Schneider optics (but adopted to Fuji controls). I would like a flash built-in. I see this as possible in the not too distant future with the cloud, AI (oops the evil AI), massive computational power, additive manufacturing, and the tech revolution (entrepreneurship). Of course we need to get Fuji and others onboard, but once a trend starts they tend to follow out of necessity.

What function has that dial collar?

If I had a 3d printer i would make one. I like seeing younger people doing things like this.

She also has some really nice straps it seems. Wouldn't mind having one of those....

received a reply back from her last night. It was more of an autoreply rather than a reply to my question though. @AgX I believe the "collar" is a round lens board/mounting plate. It is difficult to tell though. This model also has a "bellows" variant so I think the rear extending rods are to provide attachment points for a mount to put a ground glass back/large format film holder mount. This also may provide anchorage for the available 120mm film back. I have the 3d parts plans but this isn't a simple print and screw together project. There are other off the shelf parts you have to buy, and there are three separate models that you can build. There are a large number of accessories you can print for it too. She's put in a lot of work- I don't think what she's done should be laughed at. Quite a remarkable feat really. I agree that the straps she makes for these cameras are quite beautiful as well. She appears to be a real craftsman. The wood veneering jobs that she does for standard cameras are beautiful in their own right.

Does anybody know anything about mamiya press lenses? Are they hard to get ahold of? This 3d printed camera requires one and I'm finding myself really tempted to build this- but if the lenses are rare or ultra expensive (or not good at all) then I probably won't bother.

Interesting camera. I'm concerned about it being labeled open source, but there are provisions against sharing the plans or selling cameras, or making modifications. That's a much more restrictive than familiar open source licenses like BSD, MIT or GNU.

I'd still like to give it a try, because it does look like one of the best 3d printed camera platforms around. The plans include a film cutter to cut down film to fit 7x9 cm, and a single-side sheet film holder for said film. Neat idea, but why not just use existing 6x9 film holders and available Ilford or Arista 6x9 (2 1/4" x 3 1/4") film?

Some of the Mamiya press lenses are rather cheap like the 90mm or 100mm, and not particularly uncommon. Wide angle lenses are a bit more. Check on eBay for the going rate.
