I don't think any image can change the world, but it can have a big effect on us. Then, it tends to get filed away in our memory.

Take the photo above. I didn't even need to click on it or read the link address (and still haven't). I instinctively know which photo it is. Keep in mind that's because I'm from that era in time. For someone who was born a lot later, they may have never even seen it.

Yes, some photographs can change the world. The article is about one of them. That photograph also initiated the discontinuation of napalm. Thank you for posting.

If a photograph has effect, one cannot predict the direction of its effect.

With pictures of today people just feel to have to rage war. Thus it is their attitude that counts.

fwiw I think America's determination to quit VN was formed before the famous Ut photograph. That determination was led by the American literate core (the students), who understood WHY we invaded VN.

Yes, there was a portrait of someone getting shot in the head with the pistol against the head several years before in Viet Nam which played strongly in the anti war movement and upset a lot of people who previously were not concerned.
