Oh oh, I discovered some film holders that I loaded with Tri-X 320 in early 2012 (unused). The holders have been in a dark closet in a climate -controlled house, so max. temperature would have been around 78 deg. F in summer. Should I use these sheets? Use a lower exposure index? Discard? Thanks!
That's it!
If stored in the dark under not too high temperatures, and perhaps more importantly, reasonably low relative humidity, they may be just fine.
Past Imperfect #7 Gelatin-silver photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 16.4cm X 21.3cm, from a 4x5 Tri-X Pan Professional negative exposed in a Tachihara 45GF double extension field view camera fitted with a 150mm f4 Wollaston Meniscus soft-focus lens and a #25 red filter.
My photographer friend died after a long long illness and some of his equipment passed into my hands. There were many film holders on a shelf that he had loaded with Tri-X fifteen years previously but could not expose. The film had corroded through the passage of years but I took it to those places we had walked with our cameras in times past and made some exposures.

UPDATE: MAY BE OK. Here are two examples from the Port of Vicksburg, Mississippi. These display a minor amount of the reticulation, but a different pattern than Maris above shows. But the reticulation may be an error from the lab where I sent the film. The reason I surmise this is I used long-expired but frozen Tri-X in other holders. Some of the sheets were perfect while others displayed severe reticulation. I need to test again. On the second frame below, I see that I used a hood a bit too narrow for the 135mm lens.
