Hi there
Just wondering how and where would I put filters on the Omega D5? I got a barebones enlarger where I have to purchase every part separately. Is it one of those under the lens ones? I hear I can just put it on the condenser?

Dear Mrtony4x5,

When I used one, I would place the filter on top of the movable condenser. There were no issues.

Good luck,

Neal Wydra

I use 6x6 filters in the condenser housing.

There is a filter holder for the DV Head, just a bit of metal, as others have said placing the filters on top of the movable supplemental condenser also works very well. For other heads the below the lens holder works and the older below the lens sets of Kodak PC and Ilford MG filters came with holders that could clamp onto any lens.

After checking how much this size of contrast filters cost to cover entire area in condenser slot I purchased Ilford made kit to mount contrast filters bellow the focusing lens. Printed 4x5 on RC MG paper without problems.

BTW, assembly, adjustment and maintenance manual for D5 was still available under Google Search couple of years ago. It was very help full to set mine working after disassembling for transportation and figure out how it actually works.
