Hello,
I'm looking to pick up an enlarger and one of the models I'm potentially interested in is the Omega C760 dichroic. I've read the KHB service advisory that some older versions may have a focus mechanism that liquifies and they advise not to buy such a model. I'm trying to understand how to tell which version I'm looking at? The advisory, I think, is only showing photos of the back of the focus mechanism. Does that sound correct? And on the back, you'd be looking for the two tension adjusters sticking out to indicate that it's the upgraded version? But from the front, do they look any different? At least from the back, the old (bad) version looks silver and the new (good) version is black? Is anything silver therefore indicative that it's the old version?
Specifically, I'm looking at this one on ebay. The second photo includes a closeup of the front of the focus mechanism. It looks silver like the "bad" version on the KHB site, but the printed scale on the black part at the bottom of the mechanism looks different than the KHB photo, so I'm really not sure. I presume I could ask the seller to take a picture of the back and I think that would clear it up if I'm reading the service advisory correctly, but I'd like to try and understand a little bit better what I'm looking for first.
Thanks!
