Omega 700-c Enlarger

I was just given an Omega 700-C Enlarger by a Co-Worker can anyone tell me if this is a decent enlarger?

Well, since it was given to you, you are already ahead of the game. It will make good prints if you equip it with a decent lens, up to about 8x10 on 35mm. You can go larger, though. The support is a little underbuilt, but if you are careful about vibrations on your work surface it's ok. If I remember correctly it will take up to 6x7 negs. I think these are still in production, and there are lots of accessories available. It takes a standard bulb, and neg carriers are easy to get. I have one of it's predecessors, a B600 that's nearly 30 years old, and I still use it now and then. Use it!

I have had two B600's (the 6x6 version of your enlarger) They do a pretty good job. Just make sure your surface is rigid. Get a good Nikon 50mm F2.8 or Schneider 50mm lens and you'll be in business. I made several 11x14 prints from 35mm with mine.

I have a B760 color enlarger. It's a fantastic little machine and with good glass will make excellent prints. It takes negs up to 6x7cm's. I had no problem making 16x20in's enlargements from a 35mm neg with this enalrger. For MF I bought a glass carrier that seemed to help. This is more a function of the carrier than the enlarger as I found the glass carrier is superior in my big Chromega as well.

Great to hear. It does have the Schneider 50mm lens. I am hoping to use it in the next month or so in co-ordination with a class I am taking at the Smithsonian. Hoping they can teach me to use it wisely.

Hi I have an Omega c-700 enlarger and think is a great little enlarger very light easy and fast set up, you can easily go past 11x14 on the base board, and i f you wish to do larger prints the colum can be turned towards the back to make even larger prints, how ever you will need another surface lower than the baseboard, or use the floor for over 30x36 or so.
