Dear all,
i have a problem with film rewind lever of my Olympus OM4Ti, it is loose. If i turn the camera upside down, it will fall (but back cover will not open freely, only when i totally pull it).
You can see video with problem here https://olympus-om.simplesite.com/446254792

Do you have any ideas for solving it?
I removed top cover for cleaning, if it is necessary for fix i can do it again. Or maybe i have to disasemble more, left side of camera maybe?
Sending to repair shop is not an option for me.
Thanks!

Welcome to Photrio.
That looks like a spring has either become detached or is missing.

Inside your rewind knob assembly is a spring loaded washer that the shaft slides through and it should rub against the rewind knob shaft and drop into a groove around the base of the shaft when it is fully extended. It appears yours is either missing or you have it inserted in a way that does not allow it to press against the shaft.

You will need to take the top of again and examine this area. How it works depends upon camera to camera, but you should be able to figure out how to return it to proper service.

I suspect this part is the culprit...

Thanks for answer.
I compared to OM2. The piece is CE565300, it keeps CE596700 in place, as far as i can see.It worked as normal until recently.
Is other easier way of getting to it without dissasemble top cover again?

Thanks

Hope you get that fixed..... i am sure you will.
Though, i would not hesitate to have a tech fix that problem and CLA the camera.
Good Luck either way.

Olympus made great inroads with those OM Series.
I have an OM1n and a OM3.

On a side note, congratulations with your User-Name.
I am surprised that nobody was, already, using that.

That was the cause.
I just pressed the spring inside, in its place, and now works like before.

Well done oly, I'm glad you were able to fix it.
