I recently had the chance to add a Om 2000 (and yes I do know it wasn't built by Olympus) to my OM collection . I find it a return to basics ie a simple meter with no frills apart from the spot metering camera .Is anyone using or used one .

No desire to, still have my OM-1 for basics.

Good Morning, Colin,

I have two OM2000 bodies and find them entirely satisfactory. The 1/125 flash sync is actually a slight advantage that my OM-1n doesn't have. Also, the "real" Olympus models, while quite durable and reliable, are older than the OM2000's.

I also have two of these. One is working and one needs work. If I remember correctly, the eyepiece takes the diopter pieces made for the regular (made by Olympus) bodies and not those which fit the other Cosina-made bodies. For some time I had only the OM2000s and some OM10s. Now I have two OMPCs, an OMG, an OM2S and an OM2N which needs work. The OMG is attached to winder. A Zuiko lens should work as well on an OM2000 as on the other OM models.

I was offered the OM 2000 at a price I couldn't refuse £7 and its in as new condition it seems to be the ideal traveling companion on my motorbike .

When the OM 2000 came out, I seriously considered buying one as a backup to my OM 2s. This was before eBay really expanded my camera buying world, and the price of good, used OM bodies was still fairly high around here.

The feature set is quite good - particularly the fact that all the shutter speeds are available without a battery, and the higher flash sync speed.

About twenty years ago I was in NYC and walked into one of the may used photo equipment stores there with my OM2n. I told the guy I was looking for spot meter capability and asked if he had a OM2000. He snorted derisively and said, "You don't want an OM2000, here's what you want." as he handed me a gently worn OM4. The price wasn't bad and I bought it on the spot. Ironically, that OM4 was in for repairs more than any other of my Oly's (ongoing problems with the film advance), and while I still have it, it was replaced long ago with an OM4T as the go everywhere camera.

In retrospect I'm fairly certain the guy just didn't have an OM2000.
