OM-10, when set to automatic, the shutter will sometimes behave like in bulb mode.

When the camera is set to automatic, the shutter will fire just fine and the shutter speed is adjusted by the camera. Every once in a while, however, the camera will act like it's set to B mode, thus leaving the shutter open for however long I press the shutter release button. The same will happen when in manual adapter mode with the adapter installed. It also happens on multiple shutter speeds, fast or slow.

I've tested it with film and the issue seems to occur once or twise per roll.

I tried googling but most results were about stuck shutters or stuck shutter releases, but that is not whats happening here.

I just got the camera and other than this quirk, its in good condition and works as expected.

Anyone know what might be the cause?

Welcome to Photrio!

I have a similar OM-G whose speeds are a little inconsistent. The circuit diagram shows a capacitor that I believe is used for timing, and if that is failing, it could produce intermittent problems. If you are adept at repairing cameras and electronics, you could try replacing that capacitor.

A wild guess: the switch used to select between bulb and program mode may be dirty or the internal contacts may have become deformed. You could try and inspect that bit, but it'll require partial disassembly.

The OM-10 reads the exposure based on the light reflecting off the film plane. Check for obstructions.

Thanks, for the replies!

I have an OM-1 too, that seem to work fine, so I might take a crack at disassembling the OM-10.
I'l have to do a bit of research though, since I've never taken one apart before.
