Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 lens issues

Hi all. I recently purchased the Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 35MM camera. The battery was completely dead and when I put a new one in the lens goes in and out 3 times and the 3rd time stays in. I put a roll of film in and the only thing showing on the display is a 1for the first frame of film. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
