I hope I am not violating any rules by starting a new thread after the last post but my issue is a little different. I have found two of these in Florida thrift stores about 3 weeks apart that turned out to be dead in all functions... identical in all aspects. With fresh battery, clam shell does not engage any electronics except the battery indicator that flashes for 10 seconds. There is no display, cannot install film and lens does not operate, completely dead. In both cameras there is a faint blue blob that has smeared the internal lens. I did attempt to take apart one of them and tried contact cleaner but no dice(BTW putting one of these back together is a little daunting). I have purchased other variations of Olympus Stylus zoom cameras with no issues. I am starting to believe the Stylus Epics are more prone to failure; it's akin to buying a lottery ticket...very seldom get a winner.
